Working with you
We work with clients on a number of levels. This may be a one-off exercise, sometimes a project may last a few months, and sometimes we maintain an ongoing relationship for many months or years. Whatever it is you need, the best way to sum up our approach is that we’ll work on a one-to-one basis with the owners and senior managers of progressive businesses, helping you to focus on the really important things you need to do to improve your company. Examples might be:
- Developing a clear idea of what you want from your business and what you want it to be like
- Setting goals and targets to reach that vision
- Improving your profitability
- Having all the financial information you need to be able to make informed decisions
- Putting processes in place to measure your business’s performance
- Planning for the future
When you choose to work with us you can be assured that it will be tailored to meet your specific needs. You will never get pushed through a standard programme, much of which may not be useful to you. This means your time and money are being focused on the areas that will have the most impact.
Getting to know you
Our starting point will be to meet with you and conduct an in-depth analysis of your needs. We will ask what you want to achieve by working with us, listening carefully to your analysis of the problems you want solved, and your future plans for your business. This gives you the opportunity to identify the outcome you expect from our work, and puts it in the context of the future of the business.
If at this stage we don’t think we’re able to help you to achieve your objectives, or if our expertise isn’t in the areas you need, we’ll tell you so. We don’t accept any assignments if we can’t add value to your business.
Developing a programme for you
Next we’ll outline the services that we offer which will meet your needs. Sometimes it will be clear exactly what you need. At other times there may be a range of options, some of which will be so vital to the process that they will be "must haves", while others will be "nice to have" options. By the end of the meeting together we will have mapped out a suitable programme for your business.
After the meeting we’ll normally write a report for you covering, if appropriate, the following:
- Background information you gave to us
- The problems you want solving
- Details of the options available to solve those problems
- A proposed programme showing how we would work with you to solve your problems
- The benefits for you and your business of taking part in the programme
- The expected timeframe for the programme
- The cost of the programme, broken down by options
You can then be sure that we have interpreted your needs correctly and you will have the information you need to make a final decision about the programme you wish to follow.
When you become a client
Our whole philosophy is that we work with you rather than leave you to your own devices. We agree in advance what is going to happen, keep you informed of progress and provide you with on-going support.
By working with you and your staff we can ensure that things actually happen in your business and your objectives are consistently met. If it is more appropriate and cost effective for you and your staff to implement changes, rather than us, we’ll help you to prepare for the implementation process, providing you with support and encouragement throughout the project. At other times, we’ll "roll up our sleeves" and carry out the project ourselves. In this way we will be an extra, highly trained, resource for your business, without you having to go to the bother and expense of employing another member of staff.
Setting up a project
All projects are carried out to a pre-arranged timetable. We will meet with you, and any of your staff who may be involved in the project, to agree mutually acceptable dates. The agreed timetable will then be circulated to everyone involved so that they know what needs to be done and when.
Much of the work will be carried out at your premises, and may involve you and/or members of your staff. By carrying out this work on pre-arranged dates we will keep any disruption to your business down to the minimum. Some work will be carried out off-site. This will include time where we brainstorm and research ideas and solutions for you, write reports, and complete forecasts and budgets.
The Review Process
Throughout the programme we will report back to you at prearranged times so that you know how the work is progressing.
At the end of each project we will have a review session with you to ensure that you are happy with our work, and that your objectives, set at the initial meeting or as revised during the programme, have been met.
We also have access to a team of specialist advisers who can help you when your issue is outside our area of expertise, such as:
- HR consultancy
- Tax-efficient share option schemes
- Wealth management
- Sophisticated personal and corporate tax planning
- Complex VAT issues
- Legal advice
So if you ever have any questions on these or any other matters, please ask - if we can't help you ourselves, we'll know someone who can.
